                           RULES, INSTRUCTIONS & OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM FOR

                                                         ART CATEGORY   


THEME: “My Favorite Things”


  Artists should create a picture of a favorite thing, person, animal or place. 

 
ELIGIBILITY: 

Work by all artists living in the Mon Valley area (includes Belle Vernon, Bentworth, Brownsville, California, Charleroi, Frazier, Ringgold, Monessen, and Yough School Districts)

 
4 DIVISIONS:  * Age 8-11   * Age 12-14    * Age 15-18    * Age 19+

 
ENTRY GUIDELINES                             Entry fee:  None

Entry form:An entry form (below) must be securely attached to the back of each entry.

Entry limit:   One (1) per person. Each entry must include **paragraph with entry form.

Artwork:Any 2-dimensional media. Mixed media is accepted. Only two-dimensional, original artwork, conceived and created by the entrant, will be considered. Two-dimensional means that a mixed media cannot exceed an inch in depth. “Original” means that if a painting is based on photos, the photos were taken by the artist or the artist has written permission from the photographer to use the photos. MMVCT reserves the right to request proof of photographer’s written permission. Include a title for the Photograph, a written description (100 words or less) to convey your vision and how it reflects a sense of your favorite thing. (“Description”)

  • Size:  Must be one of five sizes: 8” x 10”, 9” x 12”, 11” x 14”, 12” x 18” or 16” x 20”
  • Artwork must be matted or framed and ready to hang.
  • No photocopies, photos or computer- generated submissions will be accepted.
  • Artwork must fit the theme.


DEADLINE:  June 10, 2018

JUDGING

Artwork will be judged on creativity, originality, interpretation and execution of the theme, the overall design and written descriptive paragraph of entry and relationship to Theme.

 
AWARDS

An expert panel of Judges will select finalists and a winner from eligible entries. First place Winners in each age category will receive a $100 award from MMVCT.  Generous community sponsors will provide additional awards. Winning entries along with four entries chosen among semi-finalists entries will have their entry published in a limited-edition series of postcards. All winning and finalist entries will be showcased on the MMVCT website and be displayed in local libraries throughout the summer. Announcement of winners will be at the opening exhibit.
